If you look to the right, you will find a very simple pole. I was spanked as a child, and I think I am a case FOR spanking, because I was one messed up little boy. This could very well turn into a heated debate. Post if you dare.

So, 1,800 patients, 1,200 being prayed for, for two weeks, I'm guessing three prayers a day, and you think that gives substantial evidence that prayer has no power? Do you realize what kind of numbers you are making that claim on?
I came here to discuss my theories on the effect of the massive particle collider when I saw that people were worried about black holes forming. Back then I would sign my comments with "But I'm only 14..."

While a slightly more popular viner has said that they would try this, I've been thinking about it for quite some time. After about two years of feeling like a rare species of user on the vine, I decided I'd try it too.

I asked myself this question quite a while ago. I still dated, but while I wasn't, I was looking for someone. I didn't know all about what this person was like, but I knew enough to know that I would be looking for quite some time.

In my effort to draw the silhouette of and angel in anguish with it's head thrown back and screaming, I've discovered that I do not know how to draw a frontal view of a person with their head thrown back.

I keep on hearing this question asked of people of all ages. And every time they try to answer, the person asking the question tells them that success is based on your ability to say yes. Say yes to a deal, instead of cowering.

Two Atheists stumble from the woods and stopped at the edge of a clearing. The luscious green grass encircled a strange stone, which had apparently been eroded by the wind to form a cone. The cone, being made of dazzlingly smooth granite, was nothing short of 150 feet tall.

What about your donuts?
— Whoisme
Hey...you can't have my donuts! ;)
I'm an open-minded guy, but I can't make sense of this whole debate around evolutionary theory, I really can't understand it... I just don't see why there is any controversy around it at all. But I can see by looking through your comments that you're capable of being a fairly rational guy. Perhaps you might enjoy some debate about the whole thing? My interest is in gaining a better understanding of both sides... and as a secondary motivation, the prospect of either convincing you of my position, or becoming convinced of yours. Interested?
As presumptuous as it is, I'll assume that you are.
I personally see things like the earth, the universe, the birth of people and the birth of species as all pretty miraculous things. So in a sense, we can at least agree on that. But I don't see why theories about the mechanisms involved in the formation of new species would be so offensive to religious people.
Like look at babies, for example. You might say that God created you, and that's fine. A biologist might say that you were created by your parents, through processes called conception and gestation, etc. Also fine. Where's the conflict? You're not going to try and tell me that God's hands came out of the heavens and formed you exactly as you are now, right? Surely not. I think we can all agree that you were represented once by a clump of cells, then a fetus, then a baby, a child, your current self, and eventually an old man... all stages looking dramatically different from each other but still, all you. So - if it's easy to imagine that you were once an insane, pink monkeyfish-looking fetus thing growing in the frigging *belly of your mom*, why is it so hard to think that people as a whole developed as a natural part of the progress of some earlier species?
And - all this aside - have you ever *seen* a chimp? They're fricking people, for crying out loud, it's like they're one step away from building villages, I swear. Just look at their faces! What more must you see before you believe that we are yet another kind of animal? The fact that we're so advanced should not blind you to the fact that we share a *face* with a huge portion of the earth's beasts... two eyes, a mouth, a nose... we sneeze, fart, eat and crap just like all the rest of them...
So yeah, I've been paying attention to the debate, and as you can tell I intend to do something to answer my questions about the whole thing. So I know I'm going out on a limb by attempting to instigate this whole discussion with a complete stranger, but I'm guessing based on your writings that you'll bite. I'm looking for someone who can actually explain to me what your side of this debate is all about... perhaps you can indulge me...
Respectfully yours,
nanibold
